What does a District Leader do?
The Manhattan Democratic Party is governed by District Leaders elected from each neighborhood in the borough. (Actually, there are two elected from each neighborhood—one male and one female). Official duties of the Democratic District Leader include electing the Chair of the county party, setting the party’s platform, appointing election workers at local poll sites, and helping to select nominees for civil court judgeships. A strong District Leader also serves as a liaison between the community and local officials, city government, and political candidates. The district Mark represents roughly covers the area of 145th St. to 192nd St., west of Broadway. |
